Workshop on social science applied to vector control, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil)

Co-organized by IRD and Fiocruz, this workshop explored the role of social sciences in the prevention and control of Aedes-borne diseases. Bringing together around 60 researchers, public health professionals and community actors from South America, Africa, Europe and the United States, it highlighted how social determinants, community engagement and participatory approaches can strengthen vector control. A field visit to the Complexo da Maré showcased community-led initiatives and reinforced the value of integrating social sciences into vector control research.
