2ⁿᵈ INOVEC Conference: Tackling vectors of emerging arboviruses through Research & Innovation
The Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD), with the support of the Horizon Europe INOVEC project, is pleased to announce the 2ⁿᵈ INOVEC Conference entitled “Tackling Vectors of Emerging Arboviruses through Research & Innovation”. The conference will take place on October 07–08, 2026, at Agropolis International in Montpellier, France.
Vector-borne diseases represent nearly 17% of all infectious diseases worldwide and remain a major global public health challenge. In recent decades, arboviral diseases such as dengue, Zika and chikungunya have expanded rapidly, driven by urbanization, increased global mobility and climate change. This expansion has been accompanied by the spread of key vectors such as Aedes albopictus and Aedes aegypti, reinforcing the urgent need for innovative and sustainable vector control strategies.
Building on the outcomes of the first INOVEC International Conference held in Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) in 2024, this second edition will bring together leading researchers, public health actors, industry representatives and policymakers involved in the surveillance and control of vectors of emerging arboviral diseases. The conference aims to review the latest scientific evidence, strengthen international and cross-sector collaborations, and promote both fundamental and translational research to reduce the burden of vector-borne diseases.
The scientific programme will be structured around three key thematic areas:
1. Biology, Ecology & Genomics of Vectors
2. Integrated Approaches for the Control of Vectors of Arboviral Diseases
3. Advances and Innovation in Vector Control
Over two days, the conference will feature keynote lectures, scientific presentations selected through an open call for abstracts, an industry session highlighting new technologies and tools for vector control, and a round-table discussion on how to translate research & innovation into vector control policies.
By fostering dialogue between research, industry and public health stakeholders, the conference seeks to stimulate collaboration, identify research priorities, mobilize resources and support the development of practical and sustainable solutions for the control of arboviral disease vectors worldwide.
The INOVEC Consortium warmly invites researchers, practitioners and stakeholders working in this field to contribute by submitting their abstracts through the Abstract Submission Form.
Participation in the conference is free of charge; however, prior registration is required.
Due to the limited number of places, registrations will be reviewed by the organizing committee and confirmed subject to availability. Participants will receive a confirmation email indicating whether their registration has been accepted.
